1:24 Scale Drain Grates & Frames Mould (1240078)

The 1:24 Scale Drain Grates & Frames Mould produces two different drain grates and their frames.

This mould was primarily designed to be used with resin but can be used with very hard casting plasters if you let the plaster harden completely before removing from the mould. It also helps to ease the mould away from the set plaster with a blunt cocktail stick (or similar) before flexing the mould and removing the castings.

The drain grates and frames in the product images were made using Multi-Purpose Polyester Resin mixed with Fine Iron Powder (1 part resin to about 4 parts Fine Iron Powder (by weight)). This resin iron mixture cannot be poured and must be applied to the mould in layers with a small brush. We dusted the inside of the mould with iron powder before filling.

This mould will give you a virtually unlimited supply of 1:24 scale Storm Drain Grates and frames when used with plaster; resins will reduce the life of the mould.

These moulds are made of the high quality platinum-cure silicone giving the mould an exceptionally long library life and high resistance to aggressive resins.

We recommend:

Resin or a good quality hard castings plaster. Some cheaper forms of Plaster of Paris may break when removing the castings from the mould.
