1:24 Scale 4" Wide Setts (Cobblestones) Mould (1240074)

The 1:24 scale 4” Setts (Cobblestones) Mould produces 1:24 scale 4 inch wide individual setts with lengths ranging from 4” (half) to 8” long. Often mistakenly referred to as cobblestones they are commonly used for both roads and pavements.

Although there are many commercially available sections of road and pavement on the market, none give you the freedom of design that can be achieved by using the individual 1:24 scale setts produced by this mould.
You can also easily model effects such as furrows in the road caused by heavy tanks turning, roads with bomb and shell craters or simple pot holes. Most people find that building even large sections of road is surprisingly easy and very rewarding. For best results be sure to work from photos as old roads are far from perfect.
Tip:
  • Some types of stone have patches of quarts in them. To simulate this sprinkle a small amount of dry uncoloured plaster (white) into the damp mould from a height before filling with coloured plaster.
This mould will give you a virtually unlimited supply of 1:24 scale setts if used with plaster (using some resins will reduce the life of the mould).

These moulds are made of the high quality platinum-cure silicone giving the mould an exceptionally long library life and high resistance to aggressive resins if you choose to use resin instead of plaster.

Specifications:
  • Setts (Cobblestones) per casting: 110
  • Approximate size: L 4.3 to 8.5 mm x W 4.3 mm x H 4 mm.
We recommend:
  • Good quality hard castings plaster. Some cheaper forms of Plaster of Paris are too soft.
  • Powder pigments to colour the plaster rather than painting the cast setts.
